The Story of How It All Began

Shiro Bonsai was started in early 2021 when I found myself struggling to find affordable training pots. After bringing in a shipment of pots i soon found a huge demand for bonsai products nationwide. I started selling at local markets & soon grew to an online store. In 2022 we set a goal to open NZ's first physical bonsai store!

2024 we welcomed Kusamono Cafe. Our Cafe/Bonsai store here in Otautahi. Bringing our goal of accessible bonsai to life!

The structure of Shiro Bonsai is created around education, from each tree being categorised within its growth stages, to each soil type sold individually so you can learn and create your own mix for what works best in your location.

Bonsai is an amazing hobby and one that has truly made my life better and it’s something I want to share with everyone!

  • Jodie Curtis (Accounts)

Hi, im Jodie. I cover most of Aaron's day to day planning. From client's work to our cafe and store financials. I'm a huge dog lover and unfortunately have 2 bonsai of my own now (lol).

  • Vanessa Bason (Orders & Local Market)

I’m Vanessa, I'm the one behind the scenes packing orders. I cover the big nursery orders as well as the small online ones. I love bonsai and have many trees myself.

  • Lorelie Nacis (Marketing & Design)

Hi! I love all things creative but dislike the parts that come after. I enjoy painting but dislike the cleanup, and I love designing posters but find making them print-ready rather boring.
